#1 - Jinn’s Newsletter Beta - Triangles

Hey folks,

Welcome to the beginning of an experiment.

Triangles.

Sturdy Shapes. The strongest bridges have been built with these.

To honour Triangles, I will share 3 points.

A Metaphor I’m inspired by

You've probably noticed the angle I'm taking here (all puns intended)...

Ever wonder why so many things come in threes?

 - Rule of 3's, Golden Triangles, Triads, "let's triangulate"...

Because when something moves from A to B, one side to another, triangles are an acute show of strength. :)

It takes shape in multiple models:

  • Think/Feel/Do - Decision making

  • Time/Cost/Quality - Project management

  • Beliefs/Actions/Thoughts - Leadership

  • Media/Message/Market - Branding

  • Logos/Pathos/Ethos - Aristotle's Communication Triangle

  • Sink/Fridge/Stove - Kitchen workflow

  • Self-Kindness/Common Humanity/Mindfulness - Self Compassion

  • Head/Heart/Hands - Introspection

  • Autonomy/Competence/Relatedness - Motivation (Self Determination Theory, Ryan and Deci 2000)

Some Reflection

I've noticed motivational conflicts in myself, right here, in this experiment.

Referring to one of those models mentioned, Self Determination Theory, some questions I ask myself:

  • Autonomy - How do I make this feel like mine rather than imposed?

  • Competence - Even if I've never done this before, where am I underestimating progress or skill? What small step grows confidence?

  • Relatedness - Who else am I doing this for? And how can I connect with them?

In my previous corporate life, autonomy was often the challenge. Now, competence feels like the edge. When I'm clear on relatedness, I draw energy.

This newsletter

So here's why I'm doing this:

  • share ideas

  • grow my voice

  • connect with people (beyond the algorithm!)

Because, why not?

Thought becomes intention. Intention becomes action.

Like my toddlers have playtime(all the time). This is play.

Be my guest to play with these ideas in your own traverse.

And feedback - Good/Bad/Ugly, helps me to sharpen the point! I will be very grateful.

Bonus Quote:

  • Brevity is the Soul of Wit - Mr. William Shakespeare

May I, a self confessed tangential rambler, endeavour to work on this.
